Artobots Guggenheim is an alternative audio tour created for John Chamberlain's Choices Exhibition at New York's Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. The audio tour transports people to a dystopian alternate reality where the Decepticons (Transformer bad guys) have triumphed over their arch enemies the Autobots (good guys) and have artfully put their scorched wreckage on display as both trophies and reminders to the - now enslaved - human populous of their tragic inferiority. It's also a comedy.
The tour used the latest in immersive binaural 3D sound technology, allowing the listeners to viscerally feel their brains being scanned, drones flying overhead and robot guards walking behind them. The tour included over 30 separate stories, detailing every magnificent and generally ridiculous moment during the Autobots final stand, otherwise known as 'The Battle for the Hudson.'
Artobots is an Audio Tour Hack of John Chamberlain's exhibition that took place during May 1st - May 13th 2012 at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York city, that reimagined Chamberlain's sculptures as an exhibition about the Transformers... Premise: Commissioned by Megatron, Leader of the Decepticons, this exhibition celebrates the Decepticon's annihilation of their archenemies, the Autobots. Each piece is artfully crafted from the wreckage of the fallen Autobot army. As you listen, one thing is certain... there's more than meets the eye.
