The Clio Music Awards celebrate excellence in music-industry marketing and advertising. Janelle Monáe, Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, performer and producer; and Aloe Blacc, singer-songwriter and musician, were among this year's judges. Clio is announcing all gold, silver and bronze winners this week. Grand Clios will be announced at the Sept. 

The three other golds went to Phear Creative for Kings of Leon's "NachoVision"; Prettybird for Led Zeppelin's "Trampled Under Foot (Brandy & Coke)"; and TBWA\Chiat\Day for Gatorade's "Made in NY."


Hal Kirkland

Hal Kirkland is an internationally awarded VR, Interactive and Traditional Director who searches for meaningful human stories amidst mind-bending technological feats. As a Director and Creative Director he’s worked with the world’s leading brands (Coca-Cola, Vice, Google, MTV), agencies (R/GA, W+K, BBH, 180), bands (OneRepublic, Led Zeppelin, Snoop Dogg), production companies (Here Be Dragons, Within, Prettybird) and cultural institutions (Guggenheim NY, MoMA NY).


His work has attracted over 60 international awards including: UK Music Video Awards, 25 Best Music Video Awards, D&AD Pencils, Gold Clios, Cannes Gold lions, Gold One Show Pencils, Grand Prix in 10 festivals, to name a few. His work has been showcased on CNN, CBS, Rollingstone, New York Times, TechCrunch, Contagious, Creativity, PSFK and more. He’s shared his tales at such festivals as SXSW, Tribeca Film, Museum Next and Creative Week NYC,


He’s currently working with Here Be Dragons as both Director & Creative Director to help push the new frontier of VR even further. A medium he believes is the perfect merge between filmmaking, technology and experience.
